Otres beach, Sihanoukville (Again!)

So after a day of rest at the hotel we hopped on a 8am bus to take us over the border and into Phnom Penh. The bus was absolutely packed, with people sitting on plastic seats in the aisles, the border crossing was just odd and we eventually arrived in Phnom Penh at about 10.30pm. Although along the way we passed some lovely scenery going through North Cambodia. Here is a quick video of a typical street in Cambodia;

Again we were dropped not at a bus station but in a totally random, quite dark residential street, with 3 or 4 tuk tuk drivers. After being told we were 15kms outside of the hotel area where we needed to be, it seemed we had been had and had no choice but to jump in a tuk tuk for a vastly over inflated price. Eventually he got us to our hotel, which was rather nice, i knew we would need it after the journey. So thanks to a good deal on Agoda we had a big soft bed, hot water, tv, balcony. It was a shame it was only for one night, but at 9am we hopped on another bus and ended up arriving in Sihanoukville at about 3pm.

We had a really good, well deserved lunch at a steak place in Sihanoukville and then headed to Otres. When we arrived there were no $5 rooms but we managed to get an ok'ish deal on a geodome with bathroom at Done Right.

To be honest with you all we have done for a week is laze on the beach. On the 2nd day here we went to the Vietnamese Consulate prepared for a nightmare. We went in filled in some forms paid $60 each and walked out 20 minutes later with our visas, there and then done.

So that was our task achieved. It has been nice spending time on the beach for a few days, and catching up with people that are still here. And of course our faithful doggy beach friends.....................

So now the blog is totally up to date, tonight is our last night in Cambodia and at 8pm tomorrow (10th April) we get the night bus to Saigon, Vietnam.

I am soooooo excited, so I shall see you in Vietnam........
