Over the last few days we have hired a moped and explored some of North Goa. After getting a little admin out of the way, as mentioned before i had my henna and massage done and here is Craig having his first 70p shave.
One of the places we visited was Ashwem, a little down the coast from us. Its a beautiful quiet beach with lots of bird life.
The following day we went North and found our own little private beach with a couple of caves to explore and a very brightly coloured temple.
So you know that we moved house a couple of days ago, here are some pictures of our new abode. Its very basic @ £4.70pn, but right on the beach. The worst part of it is the bathroom, which has lots of gaps in it to let in all sorts of terrors. Also they have put in a western toilet but not plummed it in, so without going into too much detail it doesnt flush and its not attached to the floor, which makes for a quite a precarious experience. Apart from that it is on the beach and has a very nice cafe/ bar attached to it (they sell hot chocolate, which is the only chocolate i am getting at the moment).
We arrived safe and soundly in Goa on Saturday morning at 7am. The flight was very long, and drawn out, but we did meet a couple from Halesworth on the plane which was mildly entertaining (for about the first 6 hours!) We headed straight to Ivons Guest House in Arambol from the airport. We have stayed here each time we have been here before and its always good. The first couple of days have been spent recovering from the flight, sunbathing, swimming and walking. In fact walking about 5 miles or so, which has resulted in very sore feet.
Today i had a hour long back, neck and shoulder massage for £5 and had my roots done with henna for £2, bargain!
Over the next couple of days we plan to rent a bike, do some more exploring and some serious sunbathing.
Just to prove to a few people that i have been up at 7ish each day walking on the beach and swimming, here is a lovely Goa sunrise.

I have never written a blog or even a very comprehensive diary, so I am not sure how this is going to go, but I'm going to give it a go.
We have been dreaming of a year off to travel South East Asia for about 5 years, saving for about 2 and a half, and seriously planning for 9 months. And now its a week until we fly. I finished work on Friday which was totally surreal after 5 years, and even though i thought i would be skipping out the door.....I discovered that i would really miss a few people. Not enough to make me doubt going but enough to raise a little lump to my throat.
So today we loaded most of our worldly goods into my brother in laws van and took it to be stored in Suffolk. I also decided to sell my car today. So as of Monday I am going to be effectively unemployed, homeless and carless! Scary but sooooo exciting and liberating at the same time.
It all starts next Friday when we fly to Goa for the first leg of our trip, and yes we are breaking ourselves in gently by going back somewhere that feels a little like a second home.
Overall feeling very excited, nervous, tired, and very excited!
